Vintage Westinghouse Coca-Cola Cooler w/ Original Motor - As Is - Local Pickup
This Coca-Cola cooler is part of New Jersey history. My family had a gas station and luncheonette - the old school version of a convenience store - on the Black Horse Pike in Williamstown long before the Atlantic City Expressway opened. Everybody who went down the shore used the Black Horse Pike, and many people stopped by for gas, my grandmom's Italian chicken soup, a sandwich, ice cream or a comic book. Some even spent the night at one of the cabins. If they wanted a soda, it came from this cooler, which worked until the place closed in the '70s and then beyond as our family used it when visiting my grandparents. Celebrities like Bobby Rydell and others stopped in on their way to the shore, and my grandparents kept a wall of pictures of famous guests that is long gone. This Coca-Cola cooler has seen history, and I'm excited that I was able to save the cooler before the wrecking ball takes down the old luncheonette building.
This cooler has all of the original parts except for the lid that some thieves put aside to take later and I didn't hide or take away before they came back. That should be easy enough to find if you're going to restore the cooler. The motor and coil underneath are not attached to the frame, which is why there are different items under the cooler in two pictures from the back. I don't know if the cooler still works if plugged in, so you may need to have some expertise in that area if you're trying to get the parts to function. There are lots of uses, including a regular cooler for a party, a planter or a TV stand. Be creative! It's a wonderful conversation piece, and it will look great restored. I'm not sure if the family painted red over the logos on the front and right side or if the white paint simply wore off. I think that it was painted over because the plate with the serial number was painted red as well, and I took off that paint to expose the plate.
Because of the delicate condition of the inner parts - the cooler itself is like a tank - this item is for local pickup only.
Please look at the pictures for condition, and feel free to ask any questions.
    Good luck bidding!
