Large-format fold-out 1935 road map of Italy, published by the Reale Automobile Club d'Italia (RACI) more than 85 years ago.
This map opens to a generous 81 x 67 cm [31¾" x 26¼"] and has great detail on old highway alignments and road conditions (very good, good, not very good, bad).
It also locates roads under construction, ferries, tunnels, provincial capitals, cities, towns, and RACI offices.
There are hundreds of place names on the map, including Venezia, Roma, Milano, Firenze, Palermo, Siena, Milano, Cagliari, Catania, Torino, Messina, Napoli, Genoa, and Ferrara, as well as Trieste and Fiume, at the time still part of Italy.
The map is identified in the legend as the "1935 Summer Edition" and there's a logo in the lower corner for ENIT (Ente Nazionale Industrie Turistiche), the Italian State Tourist Department.
Condition:
This map is in very good condition, bright and clean, with
no
rips, tears, or writing. It folds to approximately 10½" x 5" and is blank on the back, with no printing on the reverse side. There's a neat rubber-stamp imprint in the upper corner from the American Express travel office in Buffalo, New York. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions.
