Sweet Vintage Brush-McCoy Pottery 2-Handled Vase Art Vellum Turquoise Blue-Green

Featured in this auction is a stunning vintage pottery vase made by the Brush-McCoy Pottery Co.  This beautiful, early piece from the 1920s or 1930s is unmarked but was produced by Brush-McCoy Pottery in their art vellum finish.  The vase has a bulbous, urn-shaped body and two applied scroll handles.
The piece is finished in Brush-McCoy's "Art Vellum" glaze finish which consists of a matte underglaze (blue and green for this example) and an overdrip of silvery-gray to provide texture and highlight the base colors.  For me, the glaze colors really are the star of this piece.
There are small, glazed-over indentations, glaze flakes, fleabites and slivers at the base rim (most likely from the grinding process), and evidence of the clay being handworked prior to firing including residual clay tags on the handles and at the rim.  Other small production details to note include small glaze skips and drips along with some peppering in the glaze.  There is some light scuffing along with minor staining inside from prior use.  However, this early piece is otherwise in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs.  The piece is 6-1/4" wide at the handles, 8-1/4" tall, and 3-1/2" wide at the mouth (the top rim is not perfectly round due to the handworking).  The piece does show some gentle wear but is relatively clean over all.  Check out all 12 photos!  This visually-stunning beauty would be perfect for any American art pottery or Brush-McCoy Pottery collector.  Check out my other pottery listings!
