    Description

Professionally framed feather lei. The lei is made of dyed goose feathers. The color is ilima, a dark, golden yellow. They are first cut, tied in the kamoe style onto a central cord and finished with a satin ribbon. The lei is 21" long. The frame is 13" wide by 15 1/2" high and is 1 3/4" deep. The lei is tied with thin line to the backing so it can ship safely and arrive ready to go on your wall.
A Little Bit About The Lei Maker                                                                                                                                                                                                                         I was born and raised in Hawaii and grew up on a sugar plantation the no longer exists.
I am a member of the Daughters of Hawaii thanks to my mother and her missionary ancestors. I made my first feather lei as a teenager. It was my Daughters of Hawaii uniform lei, a lei that is worn at formal occasions by the Daughters of Hawaii.
I came back to lei making after I retired and had time on my hands. I took lessons and got many helpful tips from kumu Mele Chun at her store Na Lima Mili Hulu Noeau on Kapahulu Avenue. My lei can be found there and at the gift shop at Queen Emma Summer Palace.
I have made 175 leis to date. I enjoy making and sharing my beautiful feather creations.
    Aloha,
    Hannalei
