    Description

Designed by artist JD O'Shaughnessy for the year 2021. John David creates this lunar calendar depicting the moon phase with perigee and apogee entirely by hand and it is an accurate hand drawn chart. It is printed on a heavyweight recycled paper. The squares around the large moons indicate context and represent the Perigee, the square around the small moon represents the Apogee. Vertical lines represent each quarter, horizontal lines indicate a new moon and no lines represent a full moon. This calendar measures 17 inches long and 7 & 1/2 inches wide, it is shipped rolled. Based on Greenwich Mean Time.
The perigee and apogee of the moon are when the earth is physically closer to the moon and when it is physically farther. The perigee occurs when the moon is physically closest to the earth and the apogee occurs when the moon is the farthest from the earth. When the moon is physically closer to the earth anything that is made of water is stimulated and agitated by the magnetic pull of the celestial bodies.
When the moon is farther from the earth there is less magnetic pull and the surf is less activated.
Many people are familiar with the super moon that occurs when there is a full moon and perigee of the moon at the same time. During a super moon tides are affected and agitated while there is an additional lunar intensity caused by the light of the moon.
In this calendar the perigee and the Apogee are represented as squares around the moon. The Moon appears larger in perigee and the moon appears smaller in apogee. The pattern of the waxing and waning of the moon combined the moon's proximity to the earth interweave to reveal the undulating wave form patterns showing the moon's cycles in a greater depth.
